I love cocktails, but then again who doesn’t?! What I don’t love however, is the way I’m left feeling after drinking a few of them. Now I’m not talking just the general alcohol hangover, I’m talking the pure sugar hangover that also comes with drinking these high sugar containing drinks. So I wanted to create a cocktail recipe that was actually health boosting and left me feeling refreshed. So what better place to start than by using kombucha as the base?!
If you don’t already know Kombucha is a fermented, sweetened green or bleak tea drink that provides lots of probiotics so is absolutely amazing for the digestive system and gut health. As well as this its packed with naturally occurring vitamins, acids & enzymes. It is a healthy alternative to a fizzy drink and as well as coming with all the health benefits also tastes delicious.
My favourite brand is always Equinox Kombucha so I of course used this for the recipe choosing the original flavor. Equinox Kombucha also have other beautiful flavours including ginger, wild berry and raspberry elderflower so there are endless creations you could come up with from there deliciousness.
I made my cocktail after a long day out in the beautiful hot sunshine so I was looking for something thirst quenching and refreshing. Raspberries & blueberries were the fruit first on my list followed by lime and mint and a whole lotta ice. The cocktail can be used with or without alcohol and is just as delicious both ways!
The recipe is really easy and quick to make and focused on natural, simple ingredients and stays away from the usual sugary ingredients included in usual cocktails leaving you feeling refreshed and cleansed whilst also enjoying a well deserved treat!
