We’ve all been there, whether its post the Christmas activities, after a holiday or just after a general busy period – indulging is generally part of our lives. This is not a crazy detox plan or an extreme diet, just a simple few steps that always leave me feeling good and I’d love to share it with you too!
Move, move, move. For my reboot I tried to move in some form of way every single day for 30 minutes. Weather this was an intense sweaty HIIT workout, a yoga sequence, a run, or one day I even incorporated my daily movement with shopping – yes this counts! I spent the day shopping and didn’t use trains or buses to get to any destinations and instead walked. Its good to have a mixture of workouts and I found this was the easiest way to ensure I was moving my body daily. Of course, try and make sure you are doing the more intense workouts that really get your heart pumping around 3 times in the week, but when you are not feeling up to this, walk, dance, stretch or even shop! When we exercise, our bodies release a group of hormones called endorphin’s which trigger positive feelings throughout our body.My body thanked me at the end of the week for this step which I believe is one of the most important steps and yours will too!
For my reboot week, I concentrated on organic and seasonal foods from my local farm shop. I tried to keep my cooking as fresh and simple as possible keeping the foods in there most natural form. Everything I cooked I added organic herbs & spices with a big focus on the fresh organic garlic and ginger from my farm shop to boost my immune system and aid liver detoxification. I also tried to cut down on my natural sugars and aimed for only one small sweet snack a day.
A typical day on my plate for my looked something like this;
Upon waking : Lemon & hot water
Breakfast : Berry superfood smoothie bowl with granola & fresh fruit
Lunch : Roasted vegetables, green leafy mix & chickpeas
Snack : Raw cacao & nut bar
Dinner : Garlic garden peas & artichokes with avocado.
Another important step on my reboot that I believe was one of the biggest factors of how I felt each day. Meditation is a little bit like exercise in the way that it can be hard to sometimes dedicate time and stick to it every day, but once your in a routine of it it does become so much easier! I used the ‘Calm’ app and meditated once a day for no more than 15 minutes either in the morning or before I went to sleep. I also tried to add gratitude lists into my daily routine listing 3 things every night that I was grateful for and 3 things I was looking forward to. I truly believe you can’t feel your best and healthy until you have a healthy mind so this step is crucial in my reboot plan to get me back to feeling my best not only physically but mentally too.
In the busyness of all my exams and new job I definitely hadn’t been focusing on any self care or self love so I promised this week I would be taking more time with this which is definitely something I know helps me relax. My steps included body brushing, face masks, hair masks and hot Epsom salt baths.
And there you have it – the 4 steps to my cleanse: move your body, meditate your mind, fuel with all natural food and give yourself a little self care & love! Try this for 5 days and you will be back to feeling your amazing self in no time!
