Life is all about balance! Celebrations feel good with a nice cold glass of bubbly and there’s just no denying that! But what’s important, is how we support ourselves after to get us feeling back to our best in no time. Here are my top tips:
WATER – Alcohol is a diuretic so it is important to keep your body hydrated before and after drinking water. Aim to drink around 2 litres of water both days
STICK TO ONE TYPE OF ALCOHOL – The more the variety of alcohol, the harder your liver will have to work. So stick to one type of tipple on your night out!
ANTIOXIDANTS – include foods which are rich in antioxidants the following day such as berries, apples, lemon & broccoli. These foods assist the livers natural detoxification pathway.
COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES – as tempting as it might be to go for the burger and fries the next day, aim for complex carbohydrates such as brown rice, sweet potato and oats which will give you your much needed sustained energy.
ELECTROLYTES – if you’re still feeling dehydrated, try coconut water which is high in electrolytes to replace what is lost with alcohol consumption.
FIBRE – keep your fibre high following on from alcohol consumption to ensure elimination is consistent which will aid in liver detoxification. Choose foods such as beans, nuts, whole grains and lots of fruits & vegetables!
Enjoy your night and enjoy the next day too!
